Yerevan, Armenia – The Armenian Patrol Service has released its operational results for the holiday period spanning from December 29 to January 5, revealing a significant number of traffic violations and detentions across Yerevan and the country’s regions.
Yerevan Patrols: Over 2,000 Violations in the Capital
During the specified period, Yerevan patrol officers recorded 2,121 traffic violations. Among these, 39 vehicles were impounded. Key infractions included:
- Drunk driving: 223 cases
- Driving without a license: 147 cases
- Driving with a fake license: 1 case
- License plate-related violations: 47 cases
- Failure to wear a seatbelt: 124 cases
- No child car seat: 10 cases
- Smoking while driving: 203 cases
- Using a phone while driving: 121 cases
- Pedestrian violations: 25 cases
- Other violations: 757 cases
Additionally, 63 vehicles were operated without valid compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CMTPL), 112 had not passed technical inspection, 36 had faulty headlights, and 41 had tinted windshields and side windows. A total of 200 vehicles were found to be without winter tires. Furthermore, 33 individuals were apprehended on various suspicions and transferred to Community Police departments.
Regional Patrols: Over 6,000 Violations and Detentions
In the regions, the patrol service identified 6,364 traffic violations, resulting in 173 vehicles being taken to special impound lots. Notable regional violations included:
- Drunk driving: 270 cases
- Driving without a license: 284 cases
- Driving with a fake license: 7 cases
- License plate-related violations: 70 cases
- Failure to wear a seatbelt: 922 cases
- No child car seat: 99 cases
- Smoking while driving: 173 cases
- Using a phone while driving: 204 cases
- Pedestrian violations: 11 cases
- Speeding: 454 cases
- Other violations: 2,398 cases
Regional patrols also reported 251 vehicles without CMTPL insurance, 547 without technical inspection, 453 with faulty headlights (including 7 trucks), and 76 with tinted windshields and side windows. A staggering 700 vehicles were operating without winter tires. Moreover, 26 drivers were fined for using non-standard additional amplifiers for their car stereos while driving. 22 individuals were detained on various suspicions and transferred to regional Community Police departments.
