Armenia to Establish TRIPP Company for Regional Infrastructure
Yerevan, January 16 – The Armenian government is embarking on the practical phase of implementing the provisions of the Armenian-American joint statement, which envisions the swift activation of regional infrastructures. During a government session on January 15, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed state agencies to immediately commence legal and technical preparatory work, without awaiting official applications.
The head of the executive branch characterized the joint statement by Washington and Yerevan regarding the framework for implementing the TRIPP program as a logical continuation of the August 8, 2025, agreements and a cornerstone of regional unblocking. According to Pashinyan, the peace process is shifting from a political platform to a practical, “on-the-ground” work, which necessitates urgently addressing issues related to the establishment of the TRIPP company in Armenia, clarification of routes, land allocation, and construction permits.
Addressing Socio-Psychological Aspects of Peace
The Prime Minister also touched upon the socio-psychological component of the process, emphasizing that after 35 years of conflict, the state and society are, with difficulty but consistently, learning to live in peace. He stressed that the actual launch of infrastructure projects will contribute to overcoming the conflict-driven logic in public consciousness and strengthening peace.
Key Directives and Future Steps
Pashinyan’s directives underscore a proactive approach to regional development and cooperation. The establishment of TRIPP is seen as a pivotal mechanism to facilitate cross-border connectivity and economic integration, aligning with broader regional stability goals.
The government’s immediate focus will be on:
- Expediting legal frameworks for TRIPP’s operation.
- Technical preparations for infrastructure projects.
- Defining specific routes for new infrastructure.
- Streamlining land allocation and construction permit processes.
This initiative is expected to have significant implications for the region, fostering economic growth and reinforcing the peace process. The Armenian government’s commitment to these infrastructure projects signals a new era of regional cooperation and development, moving beyond past conflicts towards a more integrated and prosperous future.
The emphasis on practical implementation reflects a strategic shift from diplomatic discussions to tangible actions that will directly impact the lives of citizens and the economic landscape of the South Caucasus.
