Moderate Activity of Acute Respiratory Infections Recorded in Armenia
Yerevan, March 9 – During the 10th week of 2026, Armenia has recorded a moderate level of activity for acute respiratory infections (ARIs). This information comes from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The center noted that the incidence of ARIs is 1.4 times lower compared to the same period last year. This indicates a more favorable epidemiological situation compared to the previous year.
Demographics of Affected Individuals
A significant majority of the reported cases, approximately 82.6%, are among individuals aged 0-18 years. The highest incidence continues to be observed in the 0-4 age group, highlighting the vulnerability of young children to these infections.
Circulating Viruses
According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinovirus, and adenovirus continue to circulate in Armenia. These are common culprits behind acute respiratory infections, causing symptoms ranging from the common cold to more severe respiratory illnesses.
Public health officials continue to monitor the situation closely and advise the public to take preventative measures, such as frequent hand washing, avoiding close contact with sick individuals, and staying home when ill, to curb the spread of these viruses.
