Caucasian Leopard Spotted Again in “Khosrov Forest” Reserve
YEREVAN, March 18 – Phototraps in the “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve have once again captured images of a Caucasian leopard. This information was reported by the “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve itself.
The animal’s photographs were taken as a result of joint monitoring activities carried out by the “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve SNCO and the Armenian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The Caucasian leopard is listed in the Red Book of Armenia and the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
This repeated sighting underscores the importance of the ongoing conservation efforts in the region and provides valuable data for researchers and conservationists working to protect this endangered species. The “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve serves as a crucial habitat for various wildlife, including the elusive Caucasian leopard.
The collaboration between the state reserve and international organizations like WWF is vital for the long-term survival of such rare animals. These monitoring programs help track population numbers, understand migration patterns, and identify potential threats to the leopards’ habitat.
The presence of the Caucasian leopard in the “Khosrov Forest” is a testament to the rich biodiversity of Armenia and highlights the need for continued vigilance and support for environmental protection initiatives.
Further analysis of the captured images will provide more insights into the individual leopard, its health, and its movements within the reserve, contributing to a better understanding of the species’ ecology.
