YEREVAN, April 2 – /Novosti-Armenia/. The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia (FSIB) has taken action against a milk product factory in Shirak province, owned by “Igit” LLC (Shirak, Azatan village), following an inspection that uncovered the production of dangerous food items. The FSIB’s Shirak regional center inspectors conducted sampling and laboratory tests of the “Matsun 2.5%” product, which subsequently failed to meet established safety standards.
Dangerous “Matsun 2.5%” Product Fails Technical Regulations
According to the FSIB, the laboratory examination results indicated that the “Matsun 2.5%” product sample did not comply with the requirements set by the technical regulations of the Customs Union. Specifically, the sample failed to meet the standards for fatty acid composition of milk fat, including the ratios of oleic acid (C18:1) to myristic acid (C14:0), linoleic acid (C18:2) to myristic acid (C14:0), and the sum of oleic and linoleic acids to the sum of lauric, myristic, palmitic, and stearic acids.
Partial Suspension of Operations and Product Recall Ordered
In response to these findings, the head of the FSIB issued a decision to suspend certain operational functions of the milk product factory. Furthermore, the manufacturer has been issued an order to prohibit the sale of the non-compliant batch, recall it from the market, and either destroy or utilize it appropriately. This measure aims to protect consumers from potentially harmful products.
Ensuring Food Safety in Armenia
This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of the Armenian Food Safety Inspection Body to ensure the safety and quality of food products available to consumers. Regular inspections and laboratory analyses are crucial in identifying and addressing potential risks in the food supply chain. The FSIB continues to monitor food production facilities across the country to uphold public health standards.
Broader Implications for Food Producers
The suspension of “Igit” LLC’s operations serves as a stern reminder to all food producers in Armenia about the critical importance of adhering to national and international food safety regulations. Non-compliance can lead to severe consequences, including operational suspensions, product recalls, and damage to reputation. The FSIB encourages all manufacturers to implement stringent quality control measures to prevent similar incidents.
This is not an isolated incident in the region, as food safety remains a priority for regulatory bodies. Consumers are advised to stay informed about product recalls and to report any concerns regarding food safety to the relevant authorities.
