Tragic Death of 10-Year-Old Girl in Shirak Province: Investigation Launched
Gyumri, Shirak Province, February 15 – On the evening of February 10, 2026, a 10-year-old girl from Shirak Province was pronounced dead after her body was brought to the Gyumri Medical Center by her parents. The incident has led to the initiation of criminal proceedings by the Shirak Regional Investigative Department, under the classification of “murder” (sudden death).
According to reports, at approximately 6:00 PM on February 10, the Shirak Regional Department of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia received operational information regarding the transfer of a child’s body to the pediatric department of Gyumri Medical Center. Senior law enforcement officials, including Artur Fishyan, Acting Head of the Shirak Regional Department, Karen Gevorgyan, Head of the Kumayri Department of the Community Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Levon Martirosyan, Commander of the Shirak Regional Battalion of the Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, immediately responded to the scene at the hospital.
Upon arrival, the information was confirmed: at around 5:30 PM, the body of the 10-year-old girl, a resident of Shirak Province, had been brought to the medical center by her parents. The Kumayri Police Department promptly notified the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, which dispatched an investigative team to the hospital. The team was led by Sahak Mkrtchyan, Head of the Department, and the on-duty investigator.
The investigative department has initiated criminal proceedings under the classification of “murder” (sudden death) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
