21-Year-Old Driver Injured in “Volkswagen Rabbit” Crash in Shirak Province

Today, December 23, 2025, a significant road accident occurred in Shirak Province, Armenia. At approximately 09:30 AM, a 21-year-old resident of Shirak Province, identified as Shamiram H., was driving her “Volkswagen Rabbit” on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway when she crashed into a concrete barrier. The force of the collision was so intense that the vehicle’s engine was ripped from its mounts and thrown a considerable distance.

Driver Hospitalized with Injuries

As a result of the crash, the driver sustained bodily injuries and was promptly transported to the “Vanadzor” Medical Center for treatment. The extent of her injuries has not yet been publicly disclosed, but authorities confirm she is receiving medical attention.

Emergency Services Respond Swiftly

Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. One combat crew from the Vanadzor fire-rescue squad of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia’s Rescue Service arrived to secure the area and provide assistance. Additionally, patrols from the 1st company, 5th platoon of the Shirak Province battalion of the Police Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, led by Deputy Battalion Commander Mher Khalatyan, Senior Service Inspector Arman Sukiasyan, Company Commander Hrach Amirkhanyan, and Platoon Commander Felix Barekyan, arrived to investigate the incident and manage traffic.

Investigation Underway

The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle before colliding with the barrier. Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses. The incident highlights the importance of road safety and careful driving, especially on highways.

Recent Accidents in the Region

This incident follows a series of other road accidents reported in the region. Yesterday, December 22, 2025, a collision between a “Chevrolet” and a “BMW” occurred in Ararat Province, with one of the vehicles subsequently hitting a parked “Mercedes,” resulting in injuries. On the same day, two “Mercedes” vehicles, a “Toyota,” and a “Volkswagen” crashed in Vardenis, injuring three people. These events underscore a concerning trend of road safety issues in various provinces of Armenia.

Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further incidents. The ongoing investigations aim to determine the contributing factors to these accidents and implement measures to enhance road safety for all commuters.
