Yerevan, February 13 – Ambassador Arman Khachatryan, the personal representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to the Permanent Council of La Francophonie and Ambassador of Armenia to France, participated in the 257th meeting of the organization’s Political Commission yesterday, February 12, 2026. This was reported by the Armenian Embassy in France.
Discussions on Armenia-Azerbaijan Normalization and Regional Peace
During his speech, Ambassador Khachatryan addressed the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to establishing stable peace in the South Caucasus. The Ambassador also provided an update on the implementation of the TRIPP project within the framework of agreements reached in Washington.
Preparations for the 2027 Francophonie Games in Yerevan
Ambassador Arman Khachatryan further noted that Armenia continues its preparatory work for the 10th Francophonie Sport and Cultural Games, scheduled to take place in Yerevan in 2027. He reiterated Armenia’s readiness to continue close cooperation with the relevant bodies of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
Commitment to Free and Fair Elections
Referring to the upcoming elections scheduled for June 7, the Ambassador emphasized the Armenian government’s readiness to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in accordance with international standards. He also highlighted the importance of the presence of an OIF observation mission.
This participation underscores Armenia’s active role within La Francophonie and its ongoing efforts in regional stability, international cooperation, and democratic processes.
