Armenian Weightlifting Championship Concludes in Yerevan
Yerevan, February 16, 2026 – The Armenian Weightlifting Championship, featuring 110 weightlifters, concluded yesterday, February 15, at the Sports Management Center. The final day of competition saw the champions and medalists in the 94 kg, 110 kg, and +110 kg weight categories determined.
Men’s Heavyweight Categories See New Champions
In the men’s +110 kg weight category, Varazdat Lalayan was crowned the Armenian champion with a total lift of 440 kg. Simon Martirosyan secured the silver medal with 405 kg, and Ashot Movsisyan completed the top three with 377 kg.
Garik Karapetyan became the champion in the 110 kg weight category, achieving a total lift of 380 kg. In the 94 kg category, Ara Aghanyan claimed the title with a total result of 370 kg.
Earlier Victories in Men’s and Women’s Divisions
Previously, champions in other men’s categories were announced:
- 60 kg: Garnik Cholakyan (Total: 272 kg)
- 65 kg: Zhora Grigoryan (Total: 254 kg)
- 71 kg: Gor Sahakyan (Total: 330 kg)

- 88 kg: Rafik Harutyunyan (Total: 350 kg)
The women’s championship saw eight weight categories contested, with the following athletes clinching the Armenian champion titles:
- 48 kg: Kristine Babayan
- 53 kg: Isabella Yaylyan
- 58 kg: Alexandra Grigoryan
- 63 kg: Natalia Sargsyan
- 69 kg: Meri Misakyan
- 77 kg: Anna Amroyan
- 86 kg: Emma Poghosyan
- +86 kg: Tatev Hakobyan
