YEREVAN, April 2 – A section of a three-story residential building located on Charents Street in Yerevan collapsed on April 1 at approximately 11:18 PM. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) 112 operational management center received an alert regarding the collapse, with initial reports indicating no casualties but several citizens potentially trapped.
Emergency Response and Assessment
Upon receiving the alert, a fire-rescue squad from the Yerevan City Rescue Department of the MIA Rescue Service was immediately dispatched to the scene. Rescuers quickly determined that a wall, approximately 5 square meters in area, and a balcony of one of the three-story houses on Charents Street had collapsed. Additionally, the foundation wall of a newly constructed building adjacent to the affected residence was also damaged.
Damage and Evacuations
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collapse. However, a “VAZ” brand car parked in the yard of the affected house sustained damage. As a precautionary measure, rescuers successfully evacuated 13 residents from the building.
