Accident on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway: Nissan Skids into Ravine
Gyumri, January 9 – An accident occurred on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway yesterday, January 8, 2026, when a Nissan car veered off the road and rolled into a ravine. Rescue services were dispatched to the scene, providing immediate assistance to the occupants.
The alarm was received by the Crisis Management Center of the Aragatsotn Regional Rescue Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 6:13 PM on January 8. A fire-rescue squad from the regional rescue department was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Details of the Incident
It was determined that at the 55th kilometer of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, a Nissan car skidded off the roadway, rolled into a ravine, and became trapped in a snowdrift. Rescuers quickly de-energized the vehicle, closed the gas cylinder valve, and pulled the car back onto the road.
Emergency medical personnel provided first aid to the driver and passenger at the scene. No further details regarding their condition have been released at this time.
Previous Incidents on the Yerevan-Gyumri Road
This incident follows other occurrences on the Yerevan-Gyumri road. On July 6, 2025, an Audi and a BMW collided, resulting in injuries. On October 24, 2021, additional safety improvement measures were implemented on the Yerevan-Gyumri road. Furthermore, due to technical reasons, Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan daytime trains were canceled on February 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2021. On September 15, 2014, a VAZ 2103 rolled into a ravine, but the injured refused medical assistance.
