CIS Expert Group Convenes to Enhance Forensic Activities and Cadre Training
Yerevan, May 29, 2026 – A crucial meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Executive Committee’s expert group took place yesterday, May 29, 2026, conducted virtually via video conference. The Republic of Armenia was represented by David Ghulyan, Director of the ‘Forensic Center of the Republic of Armenia’ SNCO, who actively participated in the working discussions.
The primary objective of this significant gathering was the refinement and harmonization of a draft decision titled “On the Basic Organization of CIS Member States for Cadre Retraining and Qualification Improvement in the Field of Forensic Activities.” This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation and standardize practices among CIS member countries in forensic science.
Key Discussions and Harmonization of Proposals
During the meeting, participants thoroughly reviewed observations and constructive proposals received from CIS member states, particularly from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, regarding the draft decision. These detailed discussions were essential in ensuring that the final document reflects the collective interests and best practices of all involved nations.
The successful implementation of this important initiative is designed to foster closer partnership ties in the forensic field among CIS member countries. It also seeks to facilitate the exchange of advanced experience and ensure the preparation and retraining of highly qualified personnel for forensic bodies within the region.
Final Document Submitted to CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council
Following comprehensive discussions and full agreement by the expert group, the final package of harmonized documents has been submitted, in accordance with established procedures, to the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers for their consideration.
This development marks a significant step towards enhancing the professional standards and collaborative efforts in forensic activities across the CIS. The ‘Forensic Center of the Republic of Armenia’ continues to play a vital role in these international initiatives, contributing to the advancement of forensic science and justice in the region.
