“Together with Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khoudatyan, President of the Football Federation Armen Melikbekyan, and other partners, we visited Getapnya Street in Martuni to inspect the area where a football academy is planned to be built in the near future,” Governor Sargsyan wrote in his post.

Significance for the Region

The construction of a football academy in Martuni is expected to significantly boost sports development in the Gegharkunik Province. It will provide modern facilities and training opportunities for young football enthusiasts in the region, fostering local talent and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance sports infrastructure across Armenia. Such projects are crucial for the development of professional sports and for engaging youth in athletic activities.

Previous and Ongoing Developments in Gegharkunik

This project is part of a series of developments in the Gegharkunik Province. Recently, four projects were approved within the framework of the “Participatory Budgeting – 2026” process in the Sevan community. Additionally, construction work for a new kindergarten building continues in Khachaghbyur, and the Karchaghbyur secondary school building is undergoing renovation.

The Armenian government has allocated 277,492.7 thousand drams for three vital projects being implemented in Gegharkunik, further demonstrating the commitment to regional development.
