Yerevan, May 19 – An extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan on May 15. At approximately 11:55 AM, the Avan district division of the Community Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received an operational report that a dispute was taking place near one of the buildings on Hrachya Acharyan Street. Police Confirm Incident, Identify Suspects
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Avan Police Department, led by department head Andranik Shahbazyan, promptly arrived at the scene and confirmed the information was accurate.
Shamshyan’s sources indicate that police determined that on the same day, around 11:50 AM, Gagik M., a 33-year-old resident of Yerevan, was involved in a road traffic accident with his Mercedes truck, which resulted in the blocking of a building’s yard entrance. Subsequently, two unknown men approached him, argued with him, and during the altercation, one of them struck Gagik M. on the head with a cane before fleeing. A few minutes later, several other unknown men approached Gagik M. and repeatedly struck him with their hands on various parts of his body, causing physical pain and a head injury.
Investigation Underway, Suspects Sought
According to the photojournalist’s information, as a result of measures undertaken by the police, it was revealed that Gagik M. was beaten by Yerevan residents: 46-year-old Arsen S., 35-year-old Voskan N., 44-year-old Hayk G., 47-year-old Arman T., 40-year-old Artashes M., and 52-year-old Karen S. Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend these individuals.
Documents regarding the incident have been compiled at the Avan Police Department and forwarded to the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts’ investigative department of the Yerevan City Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
