Yerevan, February 26 – Officers from the Criminal Police Department for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking received intelligence that a 29-year-old foreign national was illegally acquiring and distributing drugs through the “Telegram” application.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest and Seizure
Criminal police acted on the information on February 20. At 11:55 AM, the individual was apprehended in an area adjacent to Tamantsiner Street in Yerevan and transported to the Shengavit Department of Community Police.
A search of the individual revealed 23 packages wrapped in black tape, with a total weight of over 56 grams. According to the man, the packages contained methamphetamine, which he had acquired via Telegram with the intent to distribute by placing them in various locations.
Further Discoveries and Ongoing Investigation
A criminal proceeding was initiated. As a result of subsequent investigative actions, an additional 33 packages placed by the foreign national were discovered in various hiding spots. The total weight of the seized substance exceeded 87 grams.
The man has been taken into custody, and the preliminary investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the case.
