YEREVAN, February 19 – New details have emerged regarding a shooting incident that occurred yesterday, February 18, in Yerevan’s Ajapnyak district. Seven individuals were transported to “Armenia” Medical Center, with one confirmed fatality and two others in extremely critical condition. The condition of the remaining patients is described as stable but serious.
Seven Casualties, One Fatality Confirmed
Ashot Kurghinyan, Deputy Director for Surgery at “Armenia” Medical Center, informed NEWS.am that seven people were admitted to their facility. “One of them has died, two are in extremely critical condition, and the others are in stable but serious condition. For two of them, there might be a threat to life. They are currently in surgery, and I cannot say more precisely whether their lives are in danger or not. I also cannot definitively say whether the injuries are from gunshots or stab wounds. They are more similar to gunshot wounds,” Kurghinyan stated.
Details of the Incident and Ongoing Investigation
Earlier, NEWS.am reported that a movie-like shooting occurred on Abelyan Street 9 in the Ajapnyak district yesterday, February 18, with several people injured. A video circulating online shows a group of individuals shooting at each other.
According to Shamshyan.com, 10 citizens with gunshot wounds were transported from the scene to various Yerevan hospitals. Several spent casings from an automatic rifle and a pistol, blood-like traces, a knife, and a “Lexus” brand car with bullet holes were found at the scene.
Criminal and community police officers are currently identifying the injured and the owner of the “Lexus” vehicle. Deputy police chiefs and Police Chief Kamo Tsutsulyan are at the scene.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed NEWS.am regarding the incident: “Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are taking urgent operational-investigative measures to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. Additional information will be provided.”
Victims Identified
Shamshyan.com reports that the identity of the person who died in the hospital as a result of the incident on Abelyan Street today, February 18, and the identities of the 7 injured have been clarified.
