Gyumri, Armenia – The Shirak criminal police have successfully solved two separate apartment burglaries in Gyumri, leading to the apprehension of four suspects. The investigations, which spanned several weeks, culminated in arrests made earlier this month.

First Burglary: November 2025 Incident

The first case dates back to November 28 of last year, when a report of a burglary was received by the Shirak Regional Operational Management Center of the Police. A television and household items were stolen from a cabin located on Shirakatsi Street in Gyumri.

An operational group from the Shirak Regional Department of Criminal Police was dispatched to the scene. Necessary actions were carried out as part of the initiated criminal proceedings. On February 3, reliable information was received indicating that two young men from Gyumri, aged 23-24, had committed the burglary. It was also discovered that they had sold the television to a 31-year-old fellow citizen.

On the same day, one of the suspects was apprehended on Khriymyan Hayrik Highway in Gyumri. He confessed that they had entered the aforementioned cabin through the door using a technical device and left through the window with the stolen goods. The stolen items have since been recovered. The circumstances are being clarified through a preliminary investigation.

Second Burglary: January 2026 Incident

Another apartment burglary was uncovered by the Shirak criminal police on February 5. In this instance, the crime took place on January 29. The operational group that arrived at the scene found that between 9 AM and 2 PM, the door of an apartment on Kirakosyan Street in Gyumri had been opened with a modified key, and gold jewelry, watches, and 1900 Euros were stolen.

Criminal proceedings were initiated. As a result of a joint operation by Shirak criminal police and officers of the General Department of Criminal Police, information was obtained that the burglary was committed by two men: a 50-year-old resident of Arevshat village in Ararat Province and a 36-year-old resident of Bashinjaghyan Street in the capital. It was also revealed that they had arrived at the scene in a Nissan car driven by the 50-year-old man.

On February 5, the 50-year-old suspect from Arevshat was located and arrested. On February 7, the 36-year-old man was also arrested at his home on Bashinjaghyan Street in the capital. Both individuals have been remanded in custody as a precautionary measure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
