Icy Roads and Fog Expected Across Armenia, Temperatures to Rise
Yerevan, February 13 – Drivers in Armenia should prepare for icy road conditions on some sections of the republic’s highways this morning. Additionally, fog is forecast for the low-lying areas of the Shirak plain, the foothills of Kotayk and Aragatsotn, and the Ararat Valley, including the capital Yerevan, during the night and morning hours from February 13 to 15.
Yerevan Weather Outlook
For Yerevan, precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow is expected on February 14. However, February 13, 15, 16, and 17 are predicted to be without precipitation. Fog is also a possibility during the night and morning hours from February 13 to 15.
Regional Forecast
Across the republic, isolated precipitation is expected on February 14 and the night of February 15. This will manifest as rain and wet snow in foothill and valley regions, and snow in mountainous areas. Some mountainous regions may also experience blizzards and low horizontal visibility. The weather is expected to be clear of precipitation during the day on February 15, and throughout February 16 and 17.
Winds will be from the southwest at 2-5 m/s, with gusts of 13-16 m/s possible in some areas from February 13 to 17. Fog is also expected during the night and morning hours from February 13 to 16 in parts of the Shirak and Ararat valleys, and the foothills of Kotayk and Aragatsotn, including Yerevan.
Temperature Increase Expected
Temperatures across Armenia are projected to gradually increase by 5-8 degrees Celsius from February 13 to 17. In Lori, Tavush, and Syunik, the rise could be even more significant, reaching 8-10 degrees Celsius.
