Weather Changes Ahead for Yerevan and Armenia

Yerevan is bracing for a period of unsettled weather, with short-term rain expected in the afternoon of February 24 and during the night of February 25. The Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has also forecasted precipitation for February 26-28 and March 1, which will manifest as snow at night and sleet during the day. However, the daytime of February 25 and the night of February 26 are expected to be without precipitation.

Regional Outlook: Rain, Snow, and Blizzards

Across the Republic of Armenia, precipitation is anticipated in isolated regions during the daytime of February 24, throughout February 25, and during the night of February 26. This will include rain in foothill and valley areas, and snow and sleet in mountainous regions. From the daytime of February 26 through February 28 and March 1, a significant portion of the regions will experience precipitation. Foothill and valley areas will see sleet, while mountainous regions will receive snow. Isolated mountainous areas may also experience blizzards and low horizontal visibility.

Wind and Temperature Fluctuations

Winds are expected from the southwest at 2-5 m/s. However, from February 25-27, wind gusts of 15-19 m/s are anticipated in some areas. A notable change in temperature is also on the horizon: daytime temperatures from February 26-28 are projected to gradually decrease by 8-10 degrees Celsius.

Residents are advised to prepare for varying weather conditions, including slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially in mountainous areas. The change in temperature could also affect daily routines and travel plans. Authorities urge caution and recommend staying updated with the latest weather advisories.
