YEREVAN, March 19 – The production activities of the kitchen at ‘Hrazdan N2 Nursery-Kindergarten’ have been suspended, according to reports from the State Food Safety Service (SFSS). The decision comes after an inspection uncovered a series of serious violations of established sanitary-hygienic norms.
Key Violations Identified During Inspection
During the inspection, several critical deficiencies were noted within the kindergarten’s kitchen facilities. These issues pose significant risks to food safety and the health of the children.
- Insufficient Sinks: The kitchen was not equipped with an adequate number of sinks for handwashing, lacking both hot and cold running water.
- Lack of Ventilation: Artificial ventilation systems were found to be absent, contributing to poor air circulation and humidity control.
- Uneven and Damaged Surfaces: Certain sections of the floors and walls were not smooth, were in disrepair, and were not constructed from waterproof, non-absorbent, washable, and disinfectable materials as required by regulations.
- Risk of Mold and Contamination: Ceilings were not constructed or designed to prevent the accumulation of dirt, condensation, the growth of undesirable mold, or the possibility of particles falling into food preparation areas.
These findings highlight a significant failure to adhere to the necessary standards for food preparation environments in educational institutions.
Measures Taken and Future Actions
The director of the organization has been instructed to bring the kindergarten kitchen into compliance with the requirements of legal acts. A deadline has been set by the supervisory body for the rectification of these violations.
The suspension of activities underscores the commitment of regulatory bodies to ensure the safety and well-being of children in educational settings. Such measures are crucial in preventing potential health hazards associated with unsanitary food preparation conditions.
This incident serves as a reminder to all childcare facilities to regularly inspect and maintain their kitchens to meet stringent health and safety standards.
