Yerevan to Build 70-Story Skyscrapers in New ‘Yerevan-Downtown’ Project
Yerevan, January 30 – The Armenian government approved the ‘Yerevan-Downtown’ multifunctional international center project yesterday, January 29, 2026. This ambitious initiative aims to transform the southwestern entrance of Yerevan, specifically an 81-hectare area around the Noragyugh district and ‘Paskevich Hill,’ into a modern business and cultural hub. The project’s cornerstone will be the construction of 70-story skyscrapers, positioning Yerevan as a significant regional business center.
Government Approves Landmark Urban Development
The decision by the executive body authorizes the Mayor of Yerevan to sign an agreement with ‘DITI CONSTRUCTION’ and ‘DITI DEVELOPMENT’ companies on behalf of the state. This agreement will establish public paramount interest over the territory, paving the way for the extensive development. The project is set to host major banks, international hotels, diplomatic missions, and cultural centers within its towering structures.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Improvements Planned
Beyond the impressive high-rises, the ‘Yerevan-Downtown’ project includes a comprehensive upgrade of the transportation system. A new road section will connect Admiral Isakov and Arshakunyats avenues, linking them to Monte Melkonyan Street, significantly improving traffic flow and accessibility in the area. Alongside the business environment, new residential districts will be developed, complete with essential social infrastructure such as schools and kindergartens.
Focus on Green Spaces and Quality of Life
Special attention has been given to greening the urban landscape. Expansive recreational areas, complemented by new water features, are expected to become new landmarks of the city, enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. This focus on green infrastructure underscores a commitment to creating a sustainable and attractive urban environment.
Yerevan’s Vision for the Future
The ‘Yerevan-Downtown’ project represents a significant step forward in Yerevan’s urban development strategy, aiming to elevate the city’s status on the regional and international stage. By attracting major businesses and diplomatic entities, and providing modern living spaces and amenities, Yerevan seeks to strengthen its economic and cultural influence in the South Caucasus region.
