Yerevan Traffic Management Center Digitizes 81 Routes, Implements Digital Transport Control
Yerevan, March 16 – The Yerevan Traffic Management Center, established in January 2026, has made significant strides in modernizing the city’s public transport system. According to Eduard Ayvazyan, Director of the Center, approximately 70% of the work on coordinating the route network and stops has been completed, and 81 routes have been digitized. This includes 64 bus routes, 5 trolleybus routes, and 12 mini-bus routes.
Ayvazyan provided these updates during a working session at the City Hall, highlighting the progress made since the center’s inception. He noted that the center’s staff is currently about 60% complete, indicating ongoing efforts to fully operationalize its functions.
Improved Efficiency Through Digital Monitoring
The center has implemented Wialon and Nimbus systems for pilot monitoring, which have already yielded tangible results. The number of missed stops has been reduced from 81 to 35, demonstrating a remarkable improvement in service reliability. Furthermore, 125 cases of route deviation were identified (75 in January and 50 in February), leading to the optimization of several routes. The center has also addressed 322 citizen complaints, underscoring its commitment to responsive public service.
In a strategic move to enhance its operational capabilities, the Yerevan Traffic Management Center has reached an agreement with “Yandex” for cooperation. Ayvazyan mentioned that the possibility of utilizing Yandex’s software solutions for the center’s operations is currently under consideration, which could further streamline traffic management processes.
Future Priorities and Vision
The center’s key priorities include the digitization of route network monitoring, the implementation of dispatch control tools, the establishment of a unified analytical data system, and the overall improvement of public transport efficiency. Ayvazyan emphasized that the “Yerevan Traffic Management Center” is designed to create a data-driven public transport management system for the capital, providing analytical information on general mobility.
This initiative represents a significant step towards a more organized, efficient, and user-friendly public transport system in Yerevan, promising a better commuting experience for its residents.
