Yerevan’s Unisport Futsal Club Goes All-In: Winter Reinforcements and a Path to the Champions League
Yerevan, Armenia – The Unisport Futsal Club of Yerevan has loudly announced its ambitions after the winter break. The club has not only strengthened its squad but has also assembled a team capable of fighting for the Armenian Championship gold and setting its sights on reaching the group stage of the UEFA Futsal Champions League.
New Head Coach with European Experience
The main news is the appointment of Latvian specialist Aleksandr Dibrivniy as head coach. Dibrivniy has previously served as the head coach of the Latvian national futsal team and has also worked with Latvian “Nikars” and Estonian “Cosmos.”
With “Nikars,” he:
- Became Latvian champion 6 times
- Won the national cup 4 times
- Won the Super Cup 4 times
- Participated in the main stage of the Champions League 6 times
- Led the team to the Elite Round twice
With “Cosmos,” Dibrivniy became Estonian champion twice, and also won the Cup and Super Cup once each. This is a clear signal: “Unisport” is building a project with international goals.
Nine National Team Players: A Powerful Squad
For the second part of the Armenian Championship, the team has assembled a star-studded squad:
- Emin Garabekyants, second goalkeeper of the Armenian national team
- Bekbolot Akmataliev, first goalkeeper of the Kyrgyz national team
- Hamlet Manukyan and Sargis Margaryan, defenders of the Armenian national team
- Rafik Melikyan, universal player of the Armenian national team
- Semetei Murzakulov, universal player of the Kyrgyz national team
- Migran Dermendzhyan and Putrus Vasilyev, forwards of the Armenian national team (Dermendzhyan scored two goals against Ukraine in EURO-2026)
- Erbol Dolotov, forward of the Kyrgyz national team
In total, there are 9 national team players. For Armenian futsal, this is an extremely serious bid for dominance.
Tournament Situation
After 8 rounds, “Unisport” confidently leads the championship, having earned 24 points out of a possible 24. The team is 3 points ahead of “Seven” and 6 points ahead of the reigning champion “Yerevan.” In the previous season, “Unisport” suffered a painful defeat from “Yerevan” in the playoff finals. The club does not hide its goal: not only to win a ticket to the Champions League but also to perform successfully in the European arena.
