Yerevan, December 23 – US Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien is set to conclude her diplomatic mission in mid-January, after serving three years in Yerevan. This information was confirmed by the US Embassy in Armenia to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

US Policy on Armenia to Remain Unchanged

In an official statement, the US Embassy clarified that the departure of Ambassador Kvien will not lead to any shifts in U.S. policy towards Armenia. “U.S. policy on Armenia will not change when the Ambassador departs. The United States remains committed to its partnership with Armenia, and looks forward to advancing the U.S.-Armenia Strategic Partnership and implementing the bilateral agreements President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan signed at the historic August 8 Peace Summit in Washington,” the embassy affirmed.

Advancing the U.S.-Armenia Strategic Partnership

The continuity of the U.S.-Armenia Strategic Partnership is a key focus, with the embassy highlighting the commitment to implementing bilateral agreements previously signed. These agreements were a result of the historic August 8 Peace Summit in Washington, attended by then-President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan.

Ambassador Kvien’s Three-Year Tenure

Ambassador Kristina Kvien has served as the US Ambassador to Armenia for three years, overseeing a period of significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations. Her tenure has been marked by efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation across various sectors.

Future of US-Armenia Relations

Despite the change in ambassadorship, the US Embassy’s statement underscores a consistent approach to its relationship with Armenia. The focus remains on deepening the strategic partnership and ensuring the continued implementation of established agreements. This commitment aims to provide stability and predictability in diplomatic relations, regardless of individual personnel changes.

The departure of Ambassador Kvien marks the end of a chapter, but the embassy’s message reassures that the foundational principles and objectives of the U.S.-Armenia partnership will endure.
