Major Multi-Vehicle Accident in Yerevan: Six Injured, Including Three Children

Yerevan, January 13 – A significant multi-vehicle collision took place today on the road section connecting Heratsi Tunnel to Khanjyan Tunnel in Yerevan. The accident involved four vehicles: a “Toyota Ipsum,” a “Mercedes Sprinter,” a “Chevrolet,” and a “Voyah.” The incident resulted in six injuries, with three of the victims being children, as reported by Shamshyan.com.

Emergency Response and Initial Care

Medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and provided first aid to the injured individuals before their transportation to hospitals. The immediate response helped stabilize the victims before further medical attention could be administered.

Traffic Disruption and Vehicle Damage

The collision caused considerable disruption to traffic flow in the affected area, leading to slow-moving conditions. All vehicles involved in the crash ended up in the emergency lane due to the impact. Notably, the “Mercedes Sprinter” also collided with a concrete barrier, indicating the severity of the incident.

Investigation Underway

A criminal proceeding has been initiated by the investigative department concerning the accident. Authorities are currently working to identify the owners of the vehicles, the drivers involved, and the identities of all injured parties. The investigation aims to determine the precise cause of the collision and assign responsibility.

Recent Road Incidents in Armenia

This accident is one of several recent road incidents reported in Armenia. Just today, January 14, two major road closures were announced: the Gyumri-Ashotsk and Gyumri-Jajur highways are closed for all types of vehicles. Additionally, the Stepanakert-Lars highway remains closed to all traffic.

Furthermore, a large chain-reaction accident involving 14 vehicles occurred near the Marmarashen bridge in the Ararat region, attributed to icy road conditions. Another incident on January 14 saw a “Toyota,” “Nissan,” and “Infiniti” collide on David Anhaght Street, with no reported injuries.

These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges on Armenian roads, whether due to weather conditions or other factors, and underscore the importance of caution for drivers.
