YEREVAN, January 30 – A major fire broke out at a napkin production plant on Sheram Street in Yerevan yesterday, January 29, 2026. The alarm was raised at 2:15 PM, prompting an immediate and extensive response from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service.

Emergency Services Mobilized for Complex Fire

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service, the National Crisis Management Center received a distress call at 2:15 PM on January 29, reporting a fire at a napkin production plant on Sheram Street in Yerevan. In response, six fire-rescue units from the Yerevan City Rescue Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service, along with an aerial ladder, operational teams from the National Crisis Management Center, and duty groups from the Firefighting and Rescue Operations Organization Department and the Psychological Support and Medical Provision Department, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The incident was initially classified as a “Level 2” fire.

Due to the escalating complexity of the blaze, the classification was subsequently elevated to “Level 3,” necessitating the deployment of an additional five fire-rescue units from the Yerevan City Rescue Department. This brought the total number of responding units to eleven, underscoring the severity and scale of the fire.

No Casualties Reported, Investigation Underway

As of the latest reports, there have been no casualties or injuries reported as a result of the fire. The primary focus of the emergency services has been on containing the spread of the fire and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.

The napkin production plant, a significant local enterprise, has sustained considerable damage. The extent of the material losses is yet to be determined, and a detailed assessment will be conducted once the fire is fully extinguished and the site is secured.
