Gyumri, March 7 – A 41-year-old resident of Gyumri has been arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit alcoholic beverages from his grocery store. The arrest followed an operation by the Mush department of the Community Police on March 2, acting on intelligence received.
According to the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, the individual was summoned for questioning, where he confirmed the validity of the information. Subsequently, as part of a criminal proceeding initiated for illegal entrepreneurship, a search of the aforementioned store revealed 67 bottles of various capacities filled with counterfeit alcohol.
The investigation is currently underway to determine the full extent of the illegal operation and to identify any other individuals involved. The police emphasize their commitment to combating the sale of counterfeit goods, which pose significant health risks to consumers and undermine legitimate businesses.
