Yerevan, Armenia, March 17 – An attempted apartment burglary was successfully prevented in Yerevan’s Shengavit district thanks to the rapid response of local community police officers. The incident, which occurred on the night of March 12, led to the apprehension of two suspects.
Police Respond to Resident’s Alert
The alarm was raised at 02:53 AM on March 12, when the police operational control center received a call from a resident of Mantashyan Street. The caller reported that an individual was attempting to enter their apartment via the balcony. Shengavit community police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers observed two individuals behaving suspiciously in the building’s courtyard. Noticing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee the scene. A brief pursuit ensued, culminating in the apprehension of both individuals on the same street, on suspicion of attempting the apartment burglary. They were subsequently transported to the Shengavit Police Department.
Suspects Identified and Investigation Underway
In a collaborative effort between officers from the Yerevan Department of Criminal Police and the city’s patrol service, the identities of the arrested individuals were established. One suspect is a 31-year-old resident of Mayis 9th Street, while the other is a 30-year-old resident of Verin Shengavit.
A statement has been taken from the affected citizen, and a criminal proceeding has been initiated. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation as part of the ongoing criminal proceedings.
