Additional Arrests Made After Incident with Prime Minister Pashinyan in Yerevan

Yerevan, March 30 – One additional person has been arrested in connection with an incident involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at St. Anna Church in Yerevan yesterday, March 29, 2026. This brings the total number of detainees to three, who are suspected of hooliganism and interfering with the legitimate official and political activities of a public official.

Earlier reports indicated that two individuals had been arrested on suspicion of hooliganism. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has now confirmed the arrest of a third person, stating, “Following today’s incident, MIA police officers have arrested three individuals on suspicion of hooliganism and interfering with the legitimate official and political activities of a public official.”

The arrested individuals have been transferred to the Investigative Committee for further proceedings.

The incident occurred yesterday at St. Anna Church in Yerevan during Prime Minister Pashinyan’s visit. As the Prime Minister was leaving the church, passing through a line of parishioners, one individual reportedly addressed a bodyguard in an agitated manner, saying, “Don’t look at me like that.” Another person from behind the line attempted to strike in the direction of Pashinyan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed his bodyguards to remain calm and not intervene.
