Food Safety Inspectorate Suspends Operations of Public Catering Facility
YEREVAN, March 31. /Novosti-Armenia/. The Food Safety Inspectorate Body (SATM) has suspended the operations of a public catering facility due to violations of sanitary and hygienic norms. The decision comes after inspectors from the Ararat regional center of the SATM conducted an inspection at a facility owned by individual entrepreneur Araksi Shahbazyan, located in Norashen village, Ararat Province. The inspection revealed numerous sanitary and hygienic violations deemed incompatible with food production, as reported by SATM.
Identified Violations at the Facility
During the inspection, several critical issues were identified:
- In some areas, the plaster on the walls was peeling off, lacking a smooth surface, and was not maintained in a repaired condition.
- The ceilings were found to be neither safe nor in good repair. They were not constructed in a manner that would prevent the accumulation of dirt, condensation, mold growth, or the shedding of particles.
- The food establishment also lacked a changing room for its staff, which is a mandatory requirement for maintaining proper hygiene standards.
These deficiencies pose a significant risk to food safety and public health, necessitating immediate action from the regulatory body.
Production Activities Suspended, Deadline Set for Rectification
Following the findings, the head of the Inspectorate Body decided to temporarily suspend the production activities of the public catering facility. The business operator has been instructed to bring the facility into compliance with the established norms. A specific deadline has been set for the entrepreneur to eliminate all identified violations and ensure the facility meets the required sanitary and hygienic standards.
This measure underscores the SATM’s commitment to enforcing food safety regulations and protecting consumers from potential health hazards. The suspension will remain in effect until all necessary improvements are made and verified by the inspectorate.
