Today, May 28, a traffic accident took place in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia. At approximately 2:00 PM, a ‘Toyota Camry’ veered off the road on the 67th kilometer section of the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway, at the beginning of the road leading to the peninsula. The vehicle then crashed into the stairs of an underground pedestrian underpass, colliding with a concrete retaining wall.
Two Injured and Hospitalized
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, two individuals sustained bodily injuries and were transported to the ‘Sevan’ Medical Center for treatment. The identities of the driver and the injured are currently being established as part of the ongoing investigation.
Emergency Services Respond to the Scene
Patrol officers Arsen Kirakosyan and Artur Danielyan from the same company immediately cordoned off the area. Information about the accident was forwarded from the Gegharkunik regional battalion of the Patrol Service to the Sevan investigative department of the Gegharkunik regional investigative division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Criminal Proceedings Initiated
An investigative team, led by Sargis Margaryan, Head of the Department, Arman Hovhannisyan, Deputy Head of the Department, Torgom Chandoyan, Head of the Sevan Investigative Department, and the duty investigator, arrived at the scene. Criminal proceedings have been initiated by the Sevan investigative department regarding the incident. The investigation is currently focused on identifying the driver and the injured parties involved in the accident.
