The large-scale high-tech exhibition “RISE Powered by Silicon Mountains 2026” is being held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan. The exhibition unites leading representatives, specialists, and more than 40 local companies from the technological and military-industrial sectors. This year, the exhibition is being held in two stages – in June and November – under the slogan “We Are Our Mountains: Rise.”
Military-Industrial Sector: A New Branch of the Economy
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry, noted that the military-industrial sector is developing day by day, becoming a new branch of the economy.
“The military industry today generates a turnover of about 70 billion within the economy, and it is already going beyond the borders of the Republic of Armenia. The military-industrial or defense industrial products are becoming and already are a very important export branch for our economy,” the minister said during his opening speech.
According to the minister, this is only the beginning of a long journey, as the state has set itself even greater development goals.
“We are summarizing the first three-year program with 172 billion drams of direct government investment through orders. We consider it successful. This was the reason why another important, pivotal decision was made by the government to continue this culture of long-term contracts, which is already fixed by established decisions within the framework of 190 billion drams,” Hayrapetyan noted.
Developing Armenia’s High-Tech Industry
Armen Baldryan, President of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies and General Director of “Unicomp” CJSC, emphasized that Armenia has no alternative but to develop its own high-tech industry.
“It is not only a sector but also a locomotive for the entire economy. Armenian products should be the driving force that will increase the productivity of the Armenian economy, which will allow us to have competitive advantages in the global economy,” Baldryan said.
