YEREVAN, June 9 – Wizz Air has officially launched new direct flights connecting Yerevan with London and Rhodes, significantly expanding Armenia’s air travel options. The inaugural London-Yerevan flight landed at Zvartnots International Airport on June 8, marking the end of a 14-year hiatus in direct air communication between the capitals of Armenia and the United Kingdom.
Resumption of Yerevan-London Route After 14 Years
The new route connects London’s Luton Airport with Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport. Flights will operate twice a week, every Monday and Friday. The one-way ticket price starts from 50 euros, and the flight duration is slightly over 5 hours.
This event concludes a long break in direct flights between the two capitals, which began in October 2012 after British airline BMI ceased its operations. The re-establishment of this route is expected to boost tourism and business ties between Armenia and the UK.
Expansion to Greece with Yerevan-Rhodes Flights
In addition to the British route, Wizz Air has also expanded its flight network to Greece. According to Zvartnots Airport, the airline launched direct flights from Yerevan to Rhodes on June 7. Flights to the Greek island and back will also operate twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday.
