YEREVAN, June 29 – The tender package for the feasibility study and conceptual design of the investment program for the modernization of Garegin Nzhdeh Square is currently being prepared. This announcement was made by Aneta Babayan, Director of the Yerevan Urban Development Investment Programs Implementation Office, during a working consultation.
Need for Renovation in Shengavit Administrative District
Babayan stated, “We received a request from the Shengavit administrative district in March regarding the need for modernization and renovation of Garegin Nzhdeh Square.” She further confirmed that the tender is expected to be announced by mid-July.
Metro Station and Parking Infrastructure
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized the presence of a metro station in the area. “This means that it should also have a substantial infrastructure for a large number of parking spaces,” Avinyan noted, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the modernization project.
The modernization initiative is expected to address not only the aesthetic and functional aspects of the square but also its integration with the existing public transport network, particularly the metro. The inclusion of extensive parking facilities is a key consideration, reflecting the city’s efforts to manage urban traffic and provide convenience for residents and visitors.
The project aligns with broader urban development goals in Yerevan, aiming to enhance public spaces and improve urban infrastructure. The tender process will seek proposals that are both economically viable and align with the city’s vision for a modern and accessible urban environment.
Further details regarding the scope and requirements of the tender will be made available upon its official announcement in mid-July. The modernization of Garegin Nzhdeh Square is anticipated to be a significant undertaking, contributing to the ongoing development of Yerevan’s urban landscape.
