EU-funded project launched in Armenia to strengthen civil society
Yerevan, July 3, 2026 – The “Resilient, Influential and Inclusive Civil Society” (RIICS) project, aimed at strengthening civil society in Armenia, was officially launched on June 22 in Yerevan. The event introduced 36 sub-grantee organizations already selected through an open competition, as well as the main operational directions of the program.
The project seeks to reinforce the role of civil society in Armenia as a resilient, independent, and reliable factor in democratic governance, policy development, and community empowerment. This initiative is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Democracy Development Foundation (DDF), the “People in Need” public organization, and the “Bun” scientific-cultural foundation.
Project Goals and Beneficiaries

This includes supporting their participation in policy-making, monitoring government activities, and advocating for the rights and needs of citizens. The project emphasizes building the capacity of CSOs to engage in constructive dialogue with state institutions, thereby promoting transparency and accountability.
Community Empowerment and Development
The program also focuses on strengthening civil society’s role in community empowerment. This involves supporting initiatives that address local challenges, promote social inclusion, and enhance the well-being of communities throughout Armenia. By fostering independent and reliable CSOs, the project aims to create sustainable solutions for community development and resilience.
