Armenian Water Committee and Veolia Jur Deny Changes to Yerevan Water Supply Schedule
Yerevan, July 3 – The Armenian Water Committee and Veolia Jur CJSC have issued a joint statement refuting claims that Yerevan’s drinking water supply schedule has been disrupted. Contrary to recent assertions, the schedule published on April 3 has not been altered or worsened, ensuring residents continue to receive water according to the established timetable.
Previously, in November 2025 and February 2026, Veolia Jur CJSC had published schedules indicating that from May 1 to September 16, 2026, water supply to many subscribers in Yerevan would be reduced to 17 hours per day. However, due to the intervention of the Armenian government, the Water Committee and Veolia Jur revised and improved the published schedule.
Government Intervention Leads to Improved Schedule
The joint statement highlights that both the Water Committee and Veolia Jur undertook a commitment to redouble their efforts in two key areas:
- Capital renovation works of water supply systems and distribution networks in Yerevan.
- Identification of new water sources and transportation of new water volumes to Yerevan.
As a result of these accelerated efforts, the Water Committee is pleased to report that as of July 2, 2026, Yerevan residents continue to benefit from the same water supply schedule that was in effect before May 1. This means the schedule announced on April 3 has not yet come into force, thanks to the swift implementation of the aforementioned works by Veolia Jur and the Water Committee.
Significant Capital Works and New Water Sources
Within the framework of the agreement between the Armenian government and Veolia Jur CJSC, capital works totaling approximately 11 billion drams have been almost completed. These works have been carried out in the Nubarashen, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia, and Kentron administrative districts of Yerevan, as well as in several regions.
Furthermore, intensive efforts have been made and are ongoing to transport water resources from three new sources to Yerevan, further bolstering the city’s water supply capacity.
Clarification on July 1 Announcement
It is important to note that on July 1 of the current year, Veolia Jur announced on its official website that starting from July 1, for a period of two and a half months, some subscribers in all 12 districts of Yerevan would have a 17-hour water supply. A small number of addresses would receive a 19-hour supply, while some Yerevan residents would maintain a 24-hour water supply. For the remainder of the year, from January 1 to June 30 and from September 16 to December 31, subscribers in the capital would have a 24-hour water supply.
The current joint statement clarifies that despite this earlier announcement, the immediate implementation of the reduced schedule has been averted due to the successful efforts to improve the overall water infrastructure and secure new sources. This ensures that for now, the previously established, more favorable schedule remains in effect for Yerevan residents.
