Accomplice in 2020 Yerevan Murder Case Arrested Six Years Later
YEREVAN, Armenia – An accomplice in a murder case that occurred in Yerevan on June 9, 2020, has been apprehended by law enforcement officials. The individual, identified as A.M., was arrested on June 25, 2026, by officers of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs Police, following a prolonged search.
The preliminary investigation into the murder of A.P., which took place in the courtyard of May 9th Street in Yerevan, was conducted by the General Department for Investigation of Crimes Against Persons of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. The case involved a group of individuals who committed the murder in a manner dangerous to the victim’s life.
Details of the Investigation and Arrest
Earlier reports indicated that the criminal proceedings against seven co-perpetrators were sent to court with an indictment on September 29, 2021. However, A.M., identified as an accomplice in the murder, had been declared wanted.
Upon his apprehension, a personal search of A.M. revealed and confiscated a homemade smoothbore firearm with limited lethality, classified as a pistol, and ammunition.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against A.M. under points 6 and 7 of part 2 of Article 38-104 of the Criminal Code adopted on April 18, 2003, which pertains to aiding and abetting murder committed by a group of persons in a manner dangerous to the life of others. Additionally, charges have been filed under part 1 of Article 335 of the Criminal Code for illegally acquiring and possessing firearms and ammunition.
A.M. has been remanded in custody as a precautionary measure. The criminal proceedings, along with the indictment, have been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor for approval and subsequent submission to the court for consideration.
This arrest marks a significant development in the 2020 murder case, bringing a wanted accomplice to justice after six years. The ongoing legal process aims to ensure that all individuals involved in the crime are held accountable for their actions.
