Yerevan, August 18 – A 57-year-old Russian citizen, identified as Andrel B., died in a Yerevan hospital after falling approximately 10 meters from an overpass at the Garegin Nzhdeh metro station. The incident occurred on August 12, and the man succumbed to his injuries a few hours after being admitted to Erebuni Medical Center.

Details of the Tragic Event

According to information received by the Shengavit department of the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, an emergency medical team transported a man with a diagnosis of “polytrauma” from Garegin Nzhdeh Square to Erebuni Medical Center around 14:55 on August 12. The man, later identified as Andrel B., a 57-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation, never regained consciousness and died in the intensive care unit a few hours later.

Shengavit community police officers subsequently established that the man had fallen from an overpass at the Garegin Nzhdeh metro station of the Yerevan Metro at approximately 14:00 on the same day. The fall was from a height of about 10 meters, leading to severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, documents were prepared by the Shengavit police department and transferred to the Shengavit administrative district investigative department of the Yerevan City Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic fall to determine the exact cause and any contributing factors.

This incident is one of several emergency events reported recently. Other incidents include the death of an 18-year-old Australian golfer in Thailand due to a cerebral hemorrhage, and a Nigerian footballer who showed signs of life after being declared dead. These cases highlight the unpredictable nature of such events.

Community Reaction and Safety Concerns

While no official statements regarding community reaction have been released, such incidents often raise concerns about public safety in urban infrastructure. The Yerevan Metro is a vital part of the city’s public transport system, and the safety of its facilities is paramount. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.

The incident has been widely reported by local news outlets, including shamshyan.com, which provided initial details about the event and the ongoing investigation. The focus remains on understanding how such a fall could occur and what measures, if any, could prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Authorities have not yet released any information regarding potential foul play or if the incident was accidental. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are anticipated in the coming days as forensic examinations and witness testimonies are processed.
