YEREVAN, August 28 – On August 27, 2026, an incident occurred on Yervand Kochar Street in Yerevan involving the drivers of a ‘Mercedes’ and a ‘Kia’. The Criminal Police Department of Yerevan received operational information regarding the altercation that took place around 11:30 PM.
Details of the Incident
According to preliminary information, the driver of the ‘Mercedes’ allegedly violated traffic rules by overtaking the ‘Kia’ and blocking its path, all for the minor reason of a horn signal. Following this, the ‘Mercedes’ driver and their passenger reportedly displayed blatant disrespect towards the public, forcibly removing the ‘Kia’ driver from their vehicle, uttering expletives, and physically assaulting them.
Police Intervention and Arrests
A criminal proceeding has been initiated by the Investigative Department of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts. As a result of measures taken by criminal police officers, the 30-year-old ‘Mercedes’ driver, a resident of Avan Temruchi Street, and the 25-year-old passenger, a resident of Yervand Kochar Street, were identified. Both were arrested and transferred to the Kentron Department of Community Police.
The ‘Mercedes’ vehicle was impounded and taken to a special protected area belonging to the same department. Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the arrested individuals.
