Preliminary Investigation Concludes in Illegal Weapons and Hooliganism Case in Gyumri
Gyumri, Shirak Province, Armenia, August 28 – The preliminary investigation into the criminal proceedings concerning K.G., accused of illegal weapons possession, hooliganism, and physical assault in Gyumri, has been completed. The case has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with an indictment.
Details of the Incident
According to factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation by the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, K.G., along with a group of individuals, engaged in a dispute with V.K. on June 20, 2025, in front of 1/1 Haghtanak Avenue in Gyumri. During the altercation, K.G. allegedly used an illegally carried weapon, displaying disrespect towards society by uttering sexually explicit curses and indecent expressions. Furthermore, two to three shots were fired during the dispute, disrupting the normal operation of a public facility and causing fear among the food establishment’s employees.
In addition to the aforementioned actions, K.G., in concert with a group of individuals, physically assaulted V.K. by striking various parts of his body, causing physical pain.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
During the preliminary investigation, public criminal prosecution was initiated against K.G. by a decision of the supervising prosecutor, under Article 195, Part 2, Point 5 (physical assault), Article 297, Part 3 (hooliganism), and Article 334, Part 1 (illegal carrying of weapons) of the Criminal Code. V.K. was also charged under Article 195, Part 1 (physical assault), Article 297, Part 3 (hooliganism), and Article 335, Part 1 (illegal trafficking of firearms).
Arrest and Pre-trial Measures
K.G., who was wanted by law enforcement, surrendered to the Shirak Regional Investigative Department on June 19, 2025. The following day, a detention order was issued as a pre-trial measure, which was later modified by a court decision to alternative pre-trial measures.
The criminal case against K.G. has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an indictment. It is worth noting that the criminal proceedings concerning the other accused individual were sent to court on March 4, 2026.
