Khariton Ayvazyan Called Up to Armenian National Team for Nations League
Yerevan, September 19 – Urartu defender Khariton Ayvazyan has been called up to the Armenian national team for the upcoming Nations League matches. This marks the first time the 23-year-old footballer has been selected for the senior national squad.
Ayvazyan will step in for Edgar Grigoryan, a defender from Ararat-Armenia, who suffered an unexpected injury and will be unavailable to play. This is a significant milestone for Ayvazyan, who previously represented the country’s youth team, making seven appearances.
Versatile Defender to Bolster Squad
The Urartu player is known for his versatility, capable of playing on both flanks of the defense, although his primary position is right-back. This flexibility will be crucial given the current injury situation within the national team.
Following Grigoryan’s injury, the Armenian squad is left with only one nominal left-back, Nair Tiknizyan. The team also faces personnel challenges on the opposite flank, as the main right-back, Kamo Hovhannisyan, will miss the upcoming matches due to injury. The coaching staff currently has Davit Terteryan and Artem Bandikyan available for this position, and Ayvazyan will now provide an additional option.
Coaching Staff Forced to Make Adjustments
Thus, before the start of the Nations League matches, the coaching staff of the Armenian national team has once again been forced to make changes to the squad due to player injuries. These adjustments highlight the challenges faced in maintaining a full-strength team ahead of crucial international fixtures.
The call-up represents a significant opportunity for Ayvazyan to prove himself at the highest level of Armenian football and contribute to the national team’s performance in the Nations League.
