YEREVAN, September 28 – A mass brawl and stabbing incident occurred on Avetik Isahakyan Street in Yerevan late on September 25, prompting multiple calls to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ 112 operational management center. The incident, which began as a dispute in a restaurant, escalated into a street fight involving multiple individuals.
Two Young Men Hospitalized with Stab Wounds
Medical centers in the capital later reported that two young men, aged 21 and 29, residents of Yerevan, were admitted with cut and stab wounds. Their current condition has not been disclosed, but the severity of their injuries necessitated immediate medical attention.
Officers from the Arabkir Department of the Community Police Headquarters, in collaboration with colleagues from the Operational Analytical Department, responded to the scene. Their preliminary investigation revealed that the hospitalized young men had been involved in an argument with a 36-year-old Yerevan resident at a restaurant on Avetik Isahakyan Street. The altercation involved verbal abuse and physical assault, demonstrating a disregard for public order.
Brawl Escalates, More Individuals Involved
The dispute continued outside the restaurant, where a group of other individuals joined in, assaulting the 36-year-old man and causing him bodily harm. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident.
On the same day, community police officers, through operational-investigative measures, arrested the 21-year-old and 29-year-old men on suspicion of causing bodily harm and hooliganism. They were taken to the Arabkir Department for further questioning. Subsequently, on September 27, a 31-year-old man, also a participant in the brawl, was located on Duryan Street in the capital. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and hooliganism and transferred to the department.
Four other participants in the fight have been presented to the preliminary investigation body. Measures are currently underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.
