Gyumri’s Shirak Governor’s Office Building Illuminated with Yerevan City Hall Support
The administrative building of the Shirak Governor’s Office in Gyumri has been illuminated with the support of Yerevan City Hall, highlighting the city’s historic character. This initiative is another example of cooperation between the capital and the regions, aimed at community development and urban environment improvement.
Details of the Illumination Project
Approximately 400 light points and 150 meters of LED light strips were installed to illuminate the building, giving the structure a new look and special charm. The lighting ceremony was attended by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Shirak Governor Davit Arushanyan, heads of the region’s communities, representatives of the governor’s staff, and residents of Gyumri.
Statements from Officials
The initiative was implemented at the suggestion of the Shirak Governor, with the support of Yerevan City Hall. Shirak Governor Davit Arushanyan stated that the cooperation will be continuous, contributing to the development of not only Gyumri but also other communities in the region. He recalled that the idea originated when the Opera House in Yerevan was illuminated, and he approached Mr. Avinyan with the proposal to illuminate historical buildings in Gyumri as well.
“My proposal was not rejected by Mr. Avinyan, and since the administrative building of the Shirak Governor’s Office is also a historical and very beautiful building, our cooperation began this way. And cooperation is extremely important for us. You know that since 2018, the position of the Government of the Republic of Armenia has been the balanced development of regions and communities, and when the Mayor of the capital supports this position, our interaction becomes so successful. Yerevan City Hall also supports the Akhuryan community, where a park is being built. I am sure that such programs will be continuous. With this program, we added a new bright spot to the urban landscape of Gyumri. I am convinced that such programs are important not only for improving the external appearance of the city, but also for making the public environment more attractive, well-maintained and comfortable,” said Shirak Governor Davit Arushanyan.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan congratulated on the implementation of the program, emphasizing the role of such initiatives in applying the capital’s experience and capabilities in the regions as well.
Future Collaborations
This project is part of a broader effort to enhance urban environments and promote balanced regional development in Armenia. Both mayors expressed their commitment to continuing such collaborative projects in the future, aiming to benefit more communities across the country.
