Ucom Becomes Strategic Partner of Yerevan International Environmental Symposium 2026

YEREVAN, October 19 – Ucom has officially announced its role as the strategic partner for the Yerevan International Environmental Symposium 2026. This pivotal event, organized in the lead-up to the UN COP17 conference, gathered global leaders in environmental protection, representatives from government, international organizations, businesses, and expert communities.

The symposium, themed “Beyond State Protected Areas,” focused on innovative models for nature conservation management outside traditional protected zones. A key objective was to advance the implementation of Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which aims to conserve at least 30% of the Earth’s land and water areas by 2030 (Target 3 / 30×30).

Key Discussions and the “Yerevan Call to Action”

The two-day program featured high-level discussions, professional sessions, and parallel meetings covering critical topics such as legal and institutional frameworks, community management, monitoring, environmental financing, and effective governance. These discussions culminated in the adoption of the “Yerevan Call to Action,” a strategic document set to serve as an international roadmap for 2027-2030 for achieving Target 3.

This format of event is a first within the COP framework and is expected to become an integral part of future conferences.

Ucom CEO Receives “Green Warrior Award”

During the Welcome Reception held at the National Gallery of Armenia on the evening of October 17, Ucom CEO Ralph Yirikian was honored with the “Green Warrior Award” by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Heritage (FPWC). This award recognizes Ucom’s long-standing and consistent corporate commitment to biodiversity conservation in Armenia. The award is presented to partners who make sustainable and significant contributions to nature conservation.

“This recognition is very valuable to me and to Ucom. It is the result of years of cooperation, concrete work carried out with our partners, and the conviction that technology can and should serve nature conservation. Connectivity, data, monitoring systems, and renewable energy solutions can have a real impact where it is necessary to protect nature and biodiversity. It is a great honor for us to continue this work with FPWC and present it on international platforms,” said Ralph Yirikian, CEO of Ucom.

Mr. Yirikian also participated in a panel discussion titled “Effective and Fair Formation of Environmental Financing Mechanisms.” The discussion aimed to identify existing and emerging financing mechanisms in the environmental sector, determine who can truly benefit from them, and understand what changes are needed to ensure long-term, sustainable, and fair financing.

Armenia’s Leadership in Biodiversity Conservation

Ruben Khachatryan, founder and director of FPWC, emphasized Ucom’s crucial role: “Nature conservation is no longer just passive protection; it requires advanced vision, a technological arsenal, and unwavering commitment. The ‘Green Warrior’ award is not just an appreciation, but a recognition of the fact that Ucom and Ralph Yirikian have been at the forefront of environmental protection for years. When a technological leader becomes a loyal ally in nature protection, the global ’30×30′ target transforms from paper into tangible reality. With the Yerevan Symposium, we proved that Armenia is ready to lead the world with innovative models of biodiversity conservation outside state-protected areas.”

Ucom underscores the importance of supporting platforms that unite professional experience, new ideas, and partnership opportunities, contributing to the formation of practical and long-term solutions in the field of nature conservation for the preservation of Armenia’s nature.
