Armenian Mining and Metallurgy Association Joins International Council on Mining and Metals
Yerevan, May 29, 2026 – The Armenian Mining and Metallurgy Association (AMMA) has officially joined the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), signifying a crucial advancement for Armenia’s mining industry. This membership underscores the sector’s dedication to responsible mining practices, sustainable development, and compliance with global leading standards.
A Milestone for Responsible Mining in Armenia
Rohitesh (Ro) Dhawan, President and CEO of ICMM, extended a warm welcome to AMMA, highlighting the significance of this moment for both the industry and Armenia’s development trajectory. “It is a great honor to welcome the Armenian Mining and Metallurgy Association to ICMM at a critical time for our industry and for Armenia’s development path,” Dhawan stated.
He further emphasized the growing demand for minerals and metals and the increasing expectations for their responsible production. “The demand for minerals and metals is growing at an unprecedented rate, and at the same time, expectations are increasing that they must be produced responsibly. AMMA’s membership in ICMM reflects a shared commitment to raising standards and meeting the demands of energy transformation without harming communities or nature,” Dhawan added.
