YEREVAN, Armenia – August 10, 2024 – A road traffic accident involving two vehicles took place today, August 10, at approximately 12:42 PM, near the intersection leading to Chiva village in the Vayots Dzor region. The incident, which occurred on the 103rd kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, involved a ‘Nissan’ driven by A.H. (born in 1998) and a ‘VAZ’ driven by A.Gh. (born in 1984).
Emergency Services Respond to the Scene
Information regarding the accident was received by the Crisis Management Center of the Vayots Dzor Regional Rescue Department. Rescuers were immediately dispatched to the scene from the fire-rescue squad of the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found that both drivers had sustained bodily injuries. They were promptly hospitalized at a medical center. Medical professionals at the facility assessed their health conditions as satisfactory, indicating that their injuries were not life-threatening.
Safety Measures Taken at the Accident Site
To prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of the area, rescuers took immediate action. They disconnected the power supply to both vehicles and closed the valves of their gas cylinders. The area around the accident site was also cordoned off to control access and facilitate the ongoing investigation.
