Yerevan, August 26 – Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will visit Armenia in October. This agreement was reached today during a phone conversation between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Kazakhstan, according to a press release from the Armenian Prime Minister’s office.

Discussions on Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Transport

During the call, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated President Tokayev on the successful conduct of the Kurultai elections. President Tokayev, in turn, emphasized the importance of developing multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia.

The official statement indicated that “the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Kazakhstan agreed to continue discussions on suitable upcoming occasions, particularly within the framework of the Kazakh President’s visit to Armenia in October.”

The interlocutors also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation in the implementation of regional transport programs.

Previous High-Level Engagements

This upcoming visit builds on previous high-level interactions between the two countries. On November 21, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made an official visit to Kazakhstan (Astana), where he met with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During this meeting, the parties signed several bilateral agreements and elevated relations to the level of strategic partnership.

Prior to that, on April 15, 2024, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid an official visit to Yerevan.

Context of Regional Developments

The announcement of the visit comes amidst various regional developments and ongoing discussions within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which both Armenia and Kazakhstan are members. The focus on regional transport programs highlights the shared interest in enhancing connectivity and economic integration within the broader region.

The visit is expected to further solidify the strategic partnership between Armenia and Kazakhstan, potentially leading to new agreements and initiatives in various sectors, including trade, economy, and culture.

Further details regarding the agenda of President Tokayev’s visit are anticipated to be released closer to the date of the visit.
