YEREVAN, Armenia – A 27-year-old man was rushed to the National Burn Center with serious thermal burns following an electrical short circuit in Yerevan. The incident occurred on April 15, 2026, at approximately 11:10 AM, in Abovyan Park.

Details of the Incident

According to operational information received by the Marash police department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man sustained burns while attempting to repair an electrical socket. The short circuit resulted in a flash fire, causing first, second, and third-degree burns to approximately 7% of his body surface, specifically on his face, neck, and left wrist.

Photoreporter Gagik Shamshyan reported that the injured individual has been identified as Davit E., a 27-year-old resident of the Kotayk region. Police officers from the Marash department visited the hospital and confirmed that the injuries were sustained when Davit E. was disconnecting an extension cord from a socket, leading to the short circuit and subsequent fire.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, documents were compiled by the Marash police department and forwarded to the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts’ investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee’s Yerevan City Investigative Department. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the electrical accident.

This incident is not isolated, as several burn-related accidents have been reported in Armenia recently:
