Baseball Bat Brawl and Injuries in Davitashen, Yerevan: Police Uncover Hooliganism Case
Yerevan, September 2 – On August 27, a hooliganism incident occurred in Yerevan. The Davitashen police department of the General Department of Community Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia received operational information around 6:50 PM regarding a dispute near “Akba” bank on Tigran Petrosyan Street.
Escalation of a Dispute
According to reports, 18-year-old Vrezh S., 18-year-old Hakob A., 17-year-old H.P., and another friend, all residents of Yerevan, were walking when an argument erupted between one of them and a young man approximately 20 years old, over a prolonged stare. Following this initial confrontation, the young man and his friend, 19-year-old Erik G. from Yerevan, along with about six other individuals, arranged to meet near a building in Davitashen’s 4th district for further clarification.
Violent Confrontation and Injuries
Upon meeting at the designated location, Erik G. and his companions allegedly displayed disrespectful and openly contemptuous behavior towards society, disturbing public peace with profanities. They proceeded to assault Hakob A., H.P., Vrezh S., and a person named Levon. One of the assailants struck Vrezh S. and Hakob A. on the head with a baseball bat, causing bodily injuries. Afterward, the perpetrators fled the scene in a “BMW” car operated by Erik G.
Evidence and Medical Attention
At the scene, a baseball bat and blood-like traces were discovered. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the Davitashen police department received information that a team of ambulance doctors transported Vrezh S. and Hakob A. to the “Armenia” medical center with head injuries.
Ongoing Investigation
Documents regarding the incident have been compiled by the Davitashen police department and transferred to the Ajapnyak and Davitashen administrative districts’ investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Yerevan City of the Republic of Armenia. The investigation into the hooliganism case is ongoing.
