Political Analyst Mihran Hakobyan Criticizes Armenian Leadership, Warns of Public Outcry

Yerevan, May 19 – Political analyst Mihran Hakobyan has published a scathing critique of the current Armenian leadership on his Facebook page. His remarks focus on the unresolved Karabakh issue and the deep-seated resentment he observes among the Armenian populace. Hakobyan’s statement, made public on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 04:12 local time, suggests that the public’s current grievances are merely ‘snowdrops’ before a major ‘eruption’ of discontent.

In his post, Hakobyan asserts that the current leadership, whom he refers to as a ‘capitulant’ and a ‘gang,’ is incapable of understanding that ‘Karabakh has not been digested and never will be.’ He claims they fail to grasp the profound wounds inflicted upon the Armenian people, and that the majority of the population are not ‘animals,’ as the leadership allegedly perceives them to be.

A Profoundly Wounded Nation

Hakobyan states, ‘This people is deeply wounded that this gang, brought to power on their shoulders, has turned the victorious Armenian people into a heap of defeated rags, whose share in this life, according to this gang, is to have fun at free concerts in the street and rejoice with a meager pension.’ He further criticizes the leadership for allegedly demeaning Armenian history and national symbols, urging the people to renounce justice, the goals of future generations, and the sacrifices of their ancestors – essentially, everything that distinguishes Armenians from ‘serfs’ and ‘animals.’

The political analyst also condemns the leadership for being a ‘band of uneducated and ignorant traitors’ who have ‘turned Armenian history, Armenian symbolism, into a dog’s share.’ He argues that they constantly call for the renunciation of justice, the goals of generations, and the achievements and sacrifices of ancestors, effectively urging the abandonment of Armenian identity and heritage.

The ‘Gikor’ Analogy and the Threat of Impending Upheaval

Hakobyan uses an analogy of ‘Gikor’ – a character from Armenian literature representing a naive, exploited individual – to describe the current situation. He claims that in the 21st century, the Armenian people have inadvertently given power to a ‘Gikor’ who wishes to reduce everyone to his level and make them accomplices. Hakobyan suggests that this leadership, driven by ‘rat instincts,’ confuses the state with a ‘barn’ and attempts to force an entire nation to enjoy the status of a ‘defeated rag.’

He warns, ‘World history knows no case where the deeply wounded sentiment of a people passes without consequences. What is happening in the streets of Yerevan are still the snowdrops, the smoldering seeds of resentment, and the main eruption is yet to come.’ Hakobyan believes that those who have ‘bowed before the Turk’ will eventually face accountability for their actions and inactions, regardless of whether they realize it now.

A Dire Prediction for the Future

In conclusion, Hakobyan predicts a period of ‘effeminate male screams, masked monkey business, imitations of terrorism and murder attempts’ – all characteristics, he states, of discredited dictators. His post reflects a deep concern for the political and social trajectory of Armenia, emphasizing the profound psychological and historical wounds that he believes are being exacerbated by the current administration.

This statement comes amidst a backdrop of various social and political discussions in Armenia, as evidenced by other news headlines from the same source, including debates on corruption, upcoming elections, and public protests. The sentiment expressed by Hakobyan suggests a growing tension within Armenian society regarding its future direction and leadership.
